Abstract

The temperature-dependence of development was studied in two ecologically divergent freshwater calanoids, Metadiaptomus meridianus (Douwe) and Tropodiaptomus spectabilis (Kiefer). Egg durations were determined between 10 and 35 °C, and food satiated post-embryonic development times between 12 and 32 °C. All responses were basically inverse monotonic functions of temperature, adequately described by Bělehradek’s equation.
