Abstract

A continuous process that can remove up to 600 pounds of water per hour from industrial ‘slips’ or slurries' has been developed. The unit dries small quantities of material without the handicaps of batch drying in trays. The material to be dried is pumped in at the bottom of a metal chamber, at the same time as a stream of hot air. The particles to be dried are carried upwards on several thousand small pieces of silicone rubber, which create a large drying surface. In the hot air stream, the pieces of rubber are continually rising and falling.
