Abstract
Equipment for photon correlation spectroscopy (PCS) measurements in the heterodyne mode, using a mixing technique for the scattered and reference beam outside the scattering cell, has been developed, starting from a commercial apparatus for PCS measurements in the homodyne mode. It is also possible to switch from heterodyne to homodyne measurement without changing the sample in the scattering cell. Experimental results using a suspension of polystyrene latex particles are shown to demonstrate that with this equipment correct heterodyne correlation functions can be determined.
