Abstract

SummaryThis study reports four cases of peripheral cemental defects and dental caries in horses and possible predisposing factors. The cases demonstrated different scenarios, which indicate possible predisposing factors. Feeding regime, pH of the drinking water and periodontal disease may be such risk factors. Thus, we conclude that peripheral cemental defects and dental caries have a multifactorial background, where environmental factors and feeding regimes may play an important role.
