Abstract

An 11 year old pony gelding, used for pony club competitions presented with a one month history of occasional quidding. The pony’s diet consisted of ad libitum hay supplemented with concentrate feeding in the mornings and evenings. Upon questioning it was revealed that the pony would eat his concentrates normally, but was much slower in eating hay. There was no known history of head trauma and the pony did not appear to have lost weight. The pony’s last routine dental examination was carried out a year and a half previously.
