Abstract

Precision is given to the form of well-defined but commonly unknown Hohenberg-Kohn’ functional of the density E[ρ] for atoms, molecules and materials at equilibrium state. While defining the effective electrostatic potential of a self-consistent field in a spirit of the Thomas-Fermi theory as a solution of the Poisson equation for the quantum-statistical density and exploiting fermionic expression for energy the ground state energy of −0.5 a.u. is obtained for a single hydrogen atom under low temperature. Many-electron atoms are considered as well.
