Abstract

The results of an experimental study of processes of equilibrium and non-equilibrium freezing of various types of wet soils are presented in this paper. Within the research carried out there was determined the behaviour of the content of unfrozen water when decreasing temperature, as well as the minimum time required for freezing soils in terms of thermodynamic equilibrium in the system “ice-water”. The empirical relationships determining the content of unfrozen water on temperature – under equilibrium conditions and temperature and freezing time – under non-equilibrium conditions have been presented.
