Abstract

An investigation of equilibria in the solvent extraction of indium (III) from nitric acid was conducted with three kinds of acidic organophosphorus compounds, di (2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid (D2EHPA), 2-ethylhexyl 2-ethylhexylphosphoric acid (EHEHPA) and di(2,4,4′ -trimethylpentyl) phosphoric acid (DTMPPA) in toluene at 303 K. It was found that indium (III) is extracted as 1:6 metal: reagent complexes with all extractants at low loading ratio and as 1:3 metal: reagent complexes at high loading ratio. The equilibrium constants for these three kinds of extractants were as follows: K = 1.6 × 10 3, 1.4 × 10 2 and 2.6 × 10 −1 for D2EHPA, EHEHPA and DTMPPA, respectively.
