Abstract

Rigorous trigonometrical equations for calculating directly the sky components at any point due to a C.I.E. Standard Overcast Sky for both vertical and horizontal rectangular unglazed windows are derived and presented. The equations, when suitably combined, can also be used for any sloping window. The general method adopted can be used to derive similar equations for a sky with any intensity distribution, provided that intensity is a function of altitude alone and independent of azimuth orvice-versa.
