In Reply.— We thank McCormick for pointing out the error in equation 1. The correct term should be: Cpo e-Ke(t + t'). The term (t) should be considered to be the elapsed time from the beginning of the maintenance infusion. The assumptions in the program are based upon theoretically ideal circumstances, that is, the loading dose is delivered precisely over 30 minutes beginning immediately after the initial serum level is drawn. The instant the loading dose is delivered, the maintenance infusion is initiated.
