Abstract

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a gamma herpesvirus with a double-stranded DNA genome.Seroe-pidemiologic surveys indicate that over 95% of adults worldwide are infected with EBV.EBV is one of the successful virus and can result in a lifelong infection in memory B lymphocytes.EBV is the first human candidate tumor virus, and which has been found associated with many more malignant diseases in addition to Burkitt′s lymphoma, including Hodgkin′s lymphoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, a subset of gastric carcinomas, rare T/natural killer cell lymphomas, and many more.However, not only malignant diseases, but also some autoimmune diseases and the lymphocytosis of infectious mononucleosis have been found to be linked to EBV.In this review, EBV associated diseases in children was focused.
