Abstract

The EPR spectra of Mn 2+ ions embedded into precipitated phases of Mg 2+, Cd 2+, Fe 2+ and Ca 2+ in NaCl single crystals have been investigated. The spectrum from samples whose major impurity is Mg, Cd or Fe corresponds to Mn 2+ substituting some divalent cation inside the Suzuki phase (6NaCl.MCl 2). The existence of such a phase has been ascertained by means of Raman spectroscopy. On the other hand, the EPR spectrum of Ca 2+ doped samples has been attributed to Mn 2+ inside various CaCl 2 precipitates.
