Abstract
Electron paramagnetic resonance and optical absorption studies have been made on the title complexes in different solvents to study the metal—ligand bond nature and analyse the hyperfine line widths of copper(II). The 4s character in the ground state is found to influence the spin-Hamiltonian constants and bond parameters. The contribution of the spin-rotational relaxation mechanism to the residual line width is found to be considerably less.
