Abstract

Background: Studies estimate CDI-associated mortality rates are up to 10% and treatment of the illness is becoming more complex due to antibiotic resistance. Many healthcare organizations attempt to operationalize best practice guidelines but fail to sustain improvements due to their fragmented approach. Can a quality management modules approach to implementation of best practice guidelines achieve sustained reduction in HO-CDI rates?
