Abstract

A case of epithelioid hemangioendothelioma of the preauricular area with invasion into the parotid gland in a 40-year-old male is presented. It was diagnosed as a parotid tumor at first, then superficial parotidectomy with wxcision of the tumor was preformed. The pathological findings and immunhistochemical staining proved the diagnosis of epithelioid hemangioen-dothelioma. The epithelioid-like tumor cells with mitotic figures were found within the tumor. The presence of atypical vascular lumens, pinocytotic vesi-cles, intermediate-sized microfilaments and protrusion villi proved its endothelial features. The immunohishemical staining if factor VIII-related antigen and Ulex europaeus agglutinin were identified in many of the tumor cells. The margin of the parotid gland was by tumor cells. Infarction and central necrosis within the tumor and intravascular angiomato-sis were moted. The patient was followed regularly, and physical examintion and CT study showed no local recurrence of distant metastases one yrar after surgery.
