Abstract

It is of course highly desirable to extend the methods developed in this book to non-abelian gauge theories. The main problem that arises in this connection is the meaning of non-abelian gauge invariance in the quantum theory. To introduce this concept, we formulate the gauge invariance of QED, discussed in Sect. 4.6, in a slightly different way.
