Abstract

A 26-year-old male meloderm patient complained of painful lowering of the lower lip 5 years ago. His medical history was not relevant. He reported a habit of onychophagy in addition to a history of trauma in the lesion region. At the intraoral physical examination, there was a nodular volume increase of firm consistency at palpation extending from the lower lip to the right jugal mucosa, with a larger diameter of 5 cm, painless and not bleeding. Aspiration puncture was performed with observation of viscous liquid of a brownish color. Next, an excisional biopsy was performed, and histologic slices stained in hematoxylin and eosin showed a cystic cavity covered by keratinized squamous epithelium associated with the foreign body reaction. Based on the histologic findings, a diagnosis of epidermoid cyst was instituted. The patient is undergoing observation without signs of relapse.
