Abstract

e19061 Background: Leptomeningeal carcinomatosis (LC) is a detrimental complication of patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The effect of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) on clinical outcome of advanced NSCLC patients, especially patients who harbored an EGFR mutation, with LC has not been addressed previously. Methods: Patients with lung cancer diagnosed between 2003 and 2010 in National Taiwan University Hospital were screened retrospectively. LC was identified by cytology of cerebral spinal fluid or neuroimaging studies. The treatments and clinical outcomes were reviewed. Results: In total, 5526 lung cancer patients were screened and 212 (3.8%) patients were identified to carry NSCLC and LC. Most patients (88.7%) have adenocarcinoma histology.
