Abstract

Background: Historically, rheumatic heart disease (RHD) has been the dominant form of valvular heart disease (VHD) in developing countries including Sub-Saharan Africa. But other forms of VHD are emerging due to increasing life expectancy and improvement in the socio-economic status. We aimed to describe the demographic characteristics, etiology and pattern of left sided VHD in Buea, South West region of Cameroon.
