Summary

Introduction

Intussusception is one of the common intestinal obstruction in young children, characterised by invagination of an intestinal segment into another segment. It usually occurs in infants and commonly between 4-10 months of age [1,2]. If not intervened and relieved early, it may progress to ischemia and perforation of intestine and even may be fatal [2]. The ileocecal is the most commonly reported intussusception site. Intussusception is an adverse event associated with rotavirus vaccines (RVV). RVV was introduced phasewise in India since April 2016. Background intussusception rates are needed to document changes with RVV introduction. We describe the epidemiology of intussusception among children aged under-two years in Odisha, India
