Abstract

Nutrition is the focal point of health and well-being. Nutrition is directly linked to human resource development, pro¬ductivity and ultimately to the national growth. Malnutrition is a complex phenomenon. It is both the cause and effect of poverty and ill health, and follows a cyclical, inter-generational pattern. It is inextricably linked with illiteracy, especially female illiteracy, ignorance, ill health, lack of safe drinking water and proper sanitation (Krishnaswamy: 2004). It creates its own cycle within the large cycle of poverty. The aim of the paper is to give status of surveillance of nutrition in India.

Summary

Introduction

In the recent era of trauma, about one million people get seriously injured annually. Majority of them suffer from lower limb injuries. The aim of our study was to derive basic epidemiological parameters for lower limb injuries which can be used to develop better prediction models to reduce morbidities and mortalities. Conclusion: This study helped us in identifying certain characteristics that may be useful for planning preventive strategies in an attempt to reduce the number of accidents pertaining to lower limbs and redirect public investment in health. Tibia is the most commonly fractured long bone and the exposed anatomical location makes it vulnerable to direct blow and high-energy trauma as a result of motor vehicle accident [1]. Being a significant cause for the lower limb amputations in population less than 50 years ; it affects the individual and the society. Due to failure to comply with new conditions these people may suffer from psychosocial difficulties like depression, sense of hopelessness, low self esteem, boredom, anxiety, frustration, fear of family future, which sometimes leads them to commit suicide [3]
