Abstract
With the widespread use of 4DCT imaging planning and gated treatments for abdominal and thoracic cancers, issues are being raised as how to implement a good gating method to correlate internal target positions and prescribed target volumes according to amplitude-sorted CT images, which will facilitate the reduction of treatment margins and doses to surrounding tissues. The objectives of this study are (1) to develop an amplitude-based, gated IMRT treatment method and (2) to guide the amplitude-gated treatment by an electronic portal image device (EPID).
