Abstract

Epichrysodes gen. n. and its type-species E. tienmuensis sp. n. are described from West Tianmu Shan, Zhejiang province, China. Morphological characters, including those of the male genitalia, are figured and compared to a number of related genera, especially Chlorissa Stephens, Thalera Hubner and Culpinia Prout. Main diagnosic characters of Epichrysodes are: pale yellow wing colour, peculiar wing pattern, very faint transverse lines, lack of frenulum. Its tribal placement is discussed, and here it is proposed to include it in the Hemitheini. Type-specimens are deposited at Zoologisches Forschungsmuseum Alexander Koenig, Bonn (holotype and three paratypes) and Institute of Zoology; Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing (one paratype).
