Abstract

SUMMARY Comparison of the some biological parameters of Trichogramma evanescens Westwood on the eggs of Ephestia kuehniella Zeller and Sitotroga cerealella (Olivier) The beneficial organisms as biological control agent have been used to decrease, the problems which created by applied pesticides in the agricultural area.. The egg parasitoid, Trichogramma species, from these beneficial organisms are very important for biological control, because they lay their eggs inside host eggs and killed them, before the larva didn't emerged. In our country, the studies related with efficiency of Trichogramma species has been done against the pests in different culture plants. In this work were compared with the effect of Trichogramma evanescens Westwood (Hym.:Trichogrammatidae), on the eggs of mass production hosts, Ephestia kuehniella Zeller, (Lep.:Pyralidae) and Sitotroga cerealella (Olivier), (Lep.:Gelechiidae). The experiment was conducted under conditions at 26±1°C temperature; L.D:(16:8) and 60¬ 70% R.H. The average longevity of T.evanescens females was 7.70 and 7.98 days on the eggs of E.kuehniella and S.cerealella respectively. The average fecundity of parasitoid was 112.20 and 80.36 eggs per female, respectively. From the parasitized eggs of E.kuehniella and S.cerealella emerged the average 95.13 and 64.39 the adult, and the ratio of females was 63.26 and 72.39%, respectively. In the first day of females life, the parasitism was 28.05 and 41.06% for E.kuehniella and S.cerealella eggs, respectively.
