Abstract
Ephedra stipitata Jayita Biswas & Rita Singh sp. nova (Ephedraceae) is described and illustrated from the Union Territory of Ladakh, India. It is distinguishable from the other Ephedra species of the Western Himalayan region by its stalked male strobili having stipitate synangia, and stalked female strobili having a straight micropylar tubillus. An identification key to the Indian species of Ephedra is provided.
