Abstract

Clinical genomic sequencing methods that produce a wide range of results are increasingly used in research and clinical settings. Some of these results are incidental or secondary findings, unrelated to the testing indication. The potential clinical significance of secondary findings varies, with some having limited to no medical actionability (hereafter referred to as LMA-SFs). Questions remain about whether and how to return LMA-SFs. Previous research found that patients had diverse responses to receiving secondary findings, including excitement, shock, and disbelief.
