Abstract

Implementation of pharmacogenetic testing into regular routine clinical care is becoming more common. Many health care systems are putting an emphasis on testing their patient population and incorporating best practice alerts in their electronic medical records (EMR) for better support and more accurate prescribing recommendations. The pharmacogenetic data for each gene is incorporated into a patient’s chart and is denoted by star alleles, which are often derived of specific combinations of multiple SNPs across the gene.
