Abstract

Electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy (ENB) is an emerging advanced imaging-guided bronchoscopy technique for diagnosing pulmonary lesions. However, the selection strategy for the optimal biopsy device and whether adopting a multi-tool strategy increases the diagnostic yield remains undetermined. The CONFIDENT-ENB trial (NCT05110131) is a prospective randomized crossover study on ENB performed in a least-invasive setting with two primary aims: 1) compare the diagnostic value of needle aspiration and forceps biopsy in diagnosing lung lesions suspected of malignancy; and 2) evaluate whether a combination of the two devices improves the diagnostic performance.
