Abstract

This case involved a 33 year old G3P1 with Addison's disease diagnosed in adulthood who presented at 28 weeks gestation for a growth scan with an unexpected fetal heart block. Fetal heart rate and growth was monitored and transfer of care in the third trimester was performed in preparation for a pacemaker inserted post partum day 3. Serial ultrasounds were performed through the Fetal Medicine Unit demonstrating a stable complete fetal heart block prior to transfer to a quaternary unit. This case demonstrates the first documented case of a woman with Addison's disease with antenatally diagnosed complete fetal heart block. This may help to guide the management of future cases of fetal heart block with Addison and other autoimmune conditions.
