Abstract

Congenital heart disease (CHD) is the most common congenital anomaly affecting approximately 1% of live births. Children with CHD may also have extra cardiac phenotypes with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD) being the most common. NDD are a continuum of disorders that include developmental delays, intellectual disability, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and autism. NDD affect 10% of all patients with CHD and 50% of patients with severe CHD which requires neonatal surgeries or procedures.
