Abstract

Lung cancer is a leading cause of cancer deaths. Therefore, prevention strategies are greatly needed, especially in high-risk populations. Dietary interventions can affect disease risk via changes to the microbiome. Black raspberries are a rich source of polyphenols which have attenuated inflammation in preclinical and clinical studies. The BEWELL Study is a placebo-controlled, randomized, cross-over pilot trial that examined the impact of a phytochemical-rich black raspberry (BRB) nectar on markers of chronic inflammation and the microbiome (Trials in Progress, WCLC 2021).
