Abstract

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in Asian Americans and unfortunately the majority are diagnosed at advanced or late stages. Patients with early-stage lung cancer have higher cure and survival rates, supporting the premise of lung cancer screening programs. However, lung cancer screening in the United States has been focused on current or former smokers. Recent data presented from the TALENT study, a lung cancer screening study for nonsmokers conducted in Taiwan, reported a lung cancer detection rate of 2.6%.
