Abstract

Yafasova et al (Circulation 2022;145:427, PMID 34882430) evaluated long-term follow-up (9.5 years) of 556 patients with nonischemic systolic heart failure randomized to receive an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) and 560 to receive usual clinical care in DANISH (The Danish Study to Assess the Efficacy of ICDs in Patients With Nonischemic Systolic Heart Failure on Mortality). Overall 208 of 556 patients (37%) in the ICD group and 226 of 560 patients (40%) in the control group died (hazard ratio [HR] 0.89; P = .24).
