Abstract

Two articles were recently published, both investigating the treatment of catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT). CPVT is an inherited arrhythmic syndrome characterized by bidirectional or polymorphic ventricular arrhythmias occurring during exercise or emotional stress. CPVT can lead to syncope and sudden cardiac death (SCD). CPVT should always be considered in young patients with structurally normal heart and electrocardiogram presenting with exercise- or stress-induced unexplained syncope or aborted SCD.
