Abstract

Screening for eosinophiluria is widely held to be useful in the diagnosis of drug-induced acute interstitial nephritis. Hansel’s stain has been shown to be superior to Wright’s stain for the identification of urine sediment eosinophils. However, eosinophiluria is not specific for the diagnosis of acute interstitial nephritis and can occur in a wide variety of genitourinary tract disorders
