Abstract

A 35-year-old female was admitted to our hospital with complaints of abdominal pain, chest pain, and shortness of breath. The patient had a history of type 1 diabetes mellitus since childhood. The patient also had associated diabetic neuropathy, gastroparesis, retinopathy, and endstage renal disease on peritoneal dialysis from diabetic nephropathy. Other chronic medical problems included hypertension, hyperlipidemia, anxiety, asthma, chronic pain, and peripheral vascular disease that resulted in a left hallux amputation from ischemic disease.
