Abstract

The definition of eosinophilia comes from the eosinophil count in blood. The damage caused by these are found in the effects of the degranulation of their proteins. Primary eosinophilia is caused by the clonal expansion of eosinophils associated to hematological malignancy. Secondary eosinophilia may be due to allergies, infections, neoplasms or autoimmune condition to other many other causes. The relative frequency of these vary according to the population. Although there are many causes of eosinophilia in the traveler, this is often translated into a helminth-acquired infection. In some cases, they may be benign and self-limited but in others, they may entail sequels for the individual per se and for others.
