Abstract

1. 1. The papain-catalyzed synthesis of α, ϵ- N,N′-diacyllysine anilide and p-phenetidide has been studied using a great excess of the acyl substrate over the amount of amine substrate which renders the initial reaction to follow first-order kinetics with regard to amine. With 20 different acyl substrates, a comparison is made between the initial velocity and the maximal extent of the synthesis at different levels of substrate concentration. 2. 2. The synthesis and characterization of 12 new diacyl derivatives of dl-lysine are described.
