Abstract

Pancreatic duct ligation (PDL) in swine reduced absorption of dietary fat and protein to less than 50%. Supplementation of the diet with pancreatin 4X NF at 0.1, 0.5 and 1.0% resulted in a significant improvement in fat absorption which approached normal on the highest level of pancreatin. Protein absorption was also improved but remained well below that observed in normal swine.
