Abstract

AbstractHerein, we report on the simultaneous reduction and functionalization of graphene oxide (GO) with environmentally friendly tyrosine through the direct reaction of GO with tyrosine (Tyr) at 100 °C for 24 h. The resultant material (rGO/Tyr) has been characterized using UV‐vis spectrometry, FTIR spectroscopy, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and electrochemical measurements. The rGO/Tyr nanomaterial displayed good electrocatalytic activity for the detection of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) with a wide linear range from 100 µM to 2.1 mM, a detection limit of 80 µM and a sensitivity of 69.07 µA mM−1 cm−2. In addition, the rGO/Tyr electrode showed good selectivity for H2O2 detection in the presence of uric acid, ascorbic acid, dopamine and glucose.
