Environmental Sustainability in Operations Management: A Citation Network Analysis

Abstract

This study systematically reviewed 213 research articles under the topic of environmental sustainability in operations management studies. We first provided descriptive statistics of these paper by distribution of journal, year, article type, research method, country, and contribution unit. We then used Citation Network Analysis (CNA) to identify four research domains (clusters), namely green supply chain management, environmental management practice, supplier evaluation, and green extended supply chain. In each domain, we conducted Main Path Analysis (MPA) to explain the major knowledge structure and identify research gaps. Lastly, we concluded the findings in the four domains and identified further cross-cluster research opportunities.
