Abstract

Towards sustainable urbanization, food waste and wastewater from buildings need the appropriate infrastructure systems for management. The zero waste concept is gaining interest as a promising option for the sustainable development of society. The study aims to assess the cumulative energy demand and GHG emissions of a prototype zero waste system for building wastewater recycling and food waste management. The system is the combination of the Moving Bed Biofilm Reaction Membrane Bioreactor for wastewater treatment and the anaerobic digester with energy recovery for food waste management.
