Abstract
After being elected into power in 2014, Narendra Modi’s government made some policy-related decisions in his first five-year term that impacted the country’s environment. Some of the policy decisions taken by the Modi government during 2014–2019 were criticised, while a few had improved or promised to improve climate infrastructure in India. There were protests against some of the decisions taken by the Modi government; a few of those protests were dealt strongly by the Indian state. This article examines the environmental situation, policy, and politics between 2014 and 2019.
