Abstract
Calculations are presented for natural γ-ray spectra in equilibrium inside homogeneous, infinite soils. The influences of moisture and nature of soils are investigated. The ratio of the γ-dose deposited in TL dosimeters (CaSO 4:Dy) encapsulated in copper on polyethylene to the γ dose in soil is given for various situations. Results are quoted separately for 40K and uranium and thorium radioactive series. Finally, an extrapolation is made to the case of non-homogeneous soils.
