Abstract

Floods are increasingly affecting man's environment particularly where be builds in the flood plain. A means for reducing the magnitude of flood damages, complementary to flood control works, is flood plain regulations, based on sound land use plans that take into account the flood hazard. Currently, (1965), a number of programs exist for providing the needed information, the largest being the Corps of Engineers flood plain information studies.
