Abstract

Several perovskite-like intermetallics CePd 3Ga x (0⩽ x⩽0.2) have been studied by means of magnetic and electrical transport measurements. With increasing x, the system transforms from a coherent nonmagnetic Kondo lattice to a single-ion Kondo system and finally to a magnetic dense-Kondo system. The observed behaviour occurs due to a change in the valence of cerium from intermediate-valent towards trivalent state.
