Abstract

The purpose of this article is to describe and discuss an analysis of the extent to which environmental issues are addressed in the textbooks in the schools of the Republic of Macedonia. Research has analyzed a range of textbooks (279) published in the past 15 years. Our fundamental conclusion is that the inclusion of environmental issues in the textbooks of the schools in the Republic of Macedonia is “left to chance” and lacking in appropriate planning for consistency and theoretical grounding. Application of these results should enable significant improvements to be made in the delivery of environmental education in the Republic of Macedonia.
