Abstract

Environmental education at the Corvinus University of Budapest (CUB) was started approximately 15 years ago. It is centred at the Department of Environmental Economics and Technology, established in 1989. One of the first environmental subjects was environmental economics which is now a compulsory course for students studying economics and business administration. Since then several additional courses have been developed, such as corporate environmental management, green environmental policy, evaluation of natural resources, environmental modelling and environmental technologies. The Institute of Environmental Sciences at the Faculty of Business Administration is responsible for a major (environmental studies and rural development), while the Department of Environmental Economics and Technology is responsible for a minor (environmental management). The latter department deals with 1,800 students a year. This article shows the most important characteristics of environmental education at the CUB.
