Abstract

No one can deny that education is a powerful tool for unlocking latent knowledge and enhancing existing abilities. Education, however, has become a significant factor in cultural re-orientation and social engineering over the past few decades. Education (and environmental education in particular) has become increasingly important in determining individual and group cultures (both locally and globally) and in modifying how they relate to the environment in this age of cultural integration and environmental sensitization. Environmental education is essential for long-term development in an ever-degrading environment, as discussed in this paper. Sustainable development, environmental education, and imperatives all go hand in hand.
