Abstract
The article analyzes Russia's solutions of national environmental problems which are essential for the world’s ecosystem due to the country’s territory. Among the most urgent issues, which require high priority measures, is protection of forest resources and efficient allocation of fresh water. Recently, public involvement has grown significantly, people are complaining about the activities of state bodies because of their less-than-prompt response, the influence of non-profit organizations has increased. However, the government is unable of solving the problems of the pollution of trans-border rivers and deforestation in trans-border areas at the national level. They require thorough bilateral and multilateral coordination. The author believes that Russia should solve its national environmental problems in a closer cooperation with the world community. Namely, a comprehensive strategy of sustainable development should be presented, the main directions of which would be the issues of peace, freedom of choice and environmental protection.
